How to get styrofoam out of a planter

This cute little planter had a bunch of ugly plastic flowers in it. When I removed the flowers, I found out that they were stuck in a block of styrofoam that had been hot glued to the planter. I soaked it in water overnight, but it wouldn't budge - just tore off a few small pieces of the styrofoam. Any way to clean the planter out?

Hot melt glue?

Option 1. Hot water. Pour it in so it just covers. When the hot melt glue softens the whole thing should come out. Slip a kitchen knife underneath.

Option 2. But I don't trust it would be microwave safe. 10 seconds at a time.

You have to melt the glue to make it come out easily. Just slip a kitchen knife underneath.

All you need to do is to pour a bit of acetone into a bowl, and place Styrofoam beads, packing peanuts, chunks of foam, or even a Styrofoam cup in the container. The Styrofoam will dissolve in the acetone much like sugar dissolves in hot water. Since Styrofoam is mostly air, you may be surprised by how much (or, in the end, how little) foam will dissolve in the acetone. A cup of acetone is enough to dissolve an entire bean bag's worth of styrofoam beads.

Nail polish remover is acetone. based.
