How to See the Northern Lights

The Northern Lights were spectacular on May10th in many areas of North America, especially in the east. They likely will continue through the week. Normally I’d never get to see them because of light pollution in the city &/or they’re in the middle of the night.

Learned a new trick. Look at them through your phone’s camera. Just like that, they were there. My photos didn’t turn out but I could see the colours. There was wispiness in the sky, but I couldn’t see the colours. My husband is colour blind and he could see a little bit of colour with his naked eye. Sometimes FB is a good thing; I learned to do that on the local site.

We seen a little bit of a green glow in the sky last night around 11:30 pm. We drove further out into the county away from the light & they were a little bit brighter, but not the full colors we seen on the late night news.

We are going to try again tonight. Didn't know about the lens & will try that too.

I saw some tonight.. they said we could see them between 10.30pm and 11.30pm so I went out in the dark.. all the stars were clear, and as I raised my photo to the sky I could see the purple and red shades in the distance, but it didn't come out in the picture so I tried several different directions, but still no luck yet I could see it through the lens...
