How to slice bell peppers for stuffing

My mom always cut across near the top, so there was a little cap she replaced before baking. Many recipes I see online now, most slice the peppers in half lengthwise. If you prepare stuffed peppers, which method do you use?

@debodun, I was never that crazy about stuffed peppers anyway. My mother never replaced the caps and neither did I, back in the day.

If I had to, I'd use the halved lengthwise method, as it seems the peppers would be more stable in the baking dish.

I'd rather have a great broiled hamburger with roasted red peppers on it and a thin slice of red onion. The bun would replace the rice, for the carb factor.

Yum; I love stuffed peppers. I cut the top off; I just think they look cuter that way. I don't replace the cap since they are usually overstuffed.
