As I get closer to retirement all the articles recommend coming up with a plan...you can't just sit around all day. Part of the plan was to start blogging so I have two blogs the6thinning.com about life in your 60's and almostfreefinancialadvice.com my thoughts on finances. Along the way I picked up cooking as a hobby hence my name and picture which is also my instagram site. My wife and I spend a lot of time with our grown millennial children and we live in the heart of Chicago so are surrounded by a younger crowd. Everyone makes fund of this generation but I am embracing it! That's how you stay young and relevant. Looking forward to hearing other thoughts.

Retirement is just another chapter in your life. Keep active in body & in mind. Don't sit watching TV all day. Learn to play an instrument, go outside for a walk each day. Try a new hobby. Travel if you have the bucks; not just cruises & all-inclusive beach resorts. Travel & learn. Seeing museums in Europe is a lot more enriching than sitting in some bar in Puerto Vallarta all day. Talk to interesting people who also are doing things. Keep away from nay-sayers, grumpy ole' men/women & snake-oil sales people.

Thats funny...we go to PV several times a year but can't say I have ever been in a bar...we love the people, weather and food!

We both use hair coloring. Mine is Just For Men Beard/Mustache coloring. I have no beard, but do color my mustache and temples. Most folks we meet, don't believe we are 70/me-72/her. I have to tell them that I graduated from high school in 1968 and enlisted in the Navy (to avoid the Draft) right before graduation. BTW, I have a full head of hair!

Being that we now live back in Colorado, we do very little outside during winter months. Now, during summer months, we put our 20 ft. powerboat in the water, cruise around and trout fish. We go to a number of pro-rodeos (I use to be a member of it), Fairs and parades. We love photography also.

The Millennials here don't get along that much with the Baby Boomers and earlier. The Baby Boomers and earlier say that the Millennials "ruined our city". Millennials will tailgate Seniors and just get annoyed by them. Just the way it is here.

Funny, but wife and I look so much younger than any of the early Baby Boomers that live here!

How to stay young ?....Your body and mind will tell you that.....
we have no control over our life or destiny !!!
Hmmmm. You really believe in 'destiny'? So you don't believe you can enhance your life by proper eating, exercise, education, and all sorts of activities? I keep posting that I spend a couple of hours a day in the gym and am still mountain hiking, while turning 70 this year. Wife is doing the same. It won't last, but we're able to keep up with most people half our age as far as activity level. But we have to work at it and believe we have some control.
But, if that is what you believe, I can't argue it.

All cosmetic ads preach "the young or youthful look" as opposed to "looking beautiful" at whatever age, while showing women round the age of 24 +/-. Cosmetics "hide" things. Why not go with what you have and still look fine? I have never dated a woman that caked on make up and strongly preferred the natural look. I walk in a Walgreens or CVS and shake my head at the enormous amount of goos, globs and paints for sale.

lol RT.......your talking here to an aerobics teacher, a walker, and a health and dietary teacher, so yes i know all about, keeping oneself fit.....sadly my colleague, who was younger than me, died a few years ago.....so , guessing....what will be , will be .......when your numbers up....its up , im afraid .......

I lived pretty secluded for 20 years. I felt old and thought I was going to die there. When I found a way to get out, I moved to a small nearby city and live downtown and never looked back. I feel happy. I think that is the secret to me feeling young. I do stuff. I have friends. I love where I live. I might not have a lot of money but I have what I need.
