So true, Holly. Last June my wife's sister, who lives alone, passed away. My late sister-in-law had been working from home since the pandemic. Her company were worried that she hadn't logged on for two days and got in touch with the next of kin, that being the oldest sister, (not my wife.)
Sister-in-law was found by police who had been given permission to break in. Older sister got in touch her younger sister, that being my wife, could she help with the house clearance? Of course we could.
Three days after my sister-in-law's body was found we found her two cats who had survived without food or water. They are now our two adoptive felines and the reason for regaling you, and others reading this, those two moggies were so ravenously hungry and dehydrated they ate everything we fed them with and all but drank their water bowl dry. Their ravenous appetite made me ask my wife if they were close to starvation. She thought that they might be, but the most harrowing thing was their thirst. recalling that and reading about that little two year old boy all but brought tears to my eyes.
My prayers would be that he was spared the pain of prolonged survival. If our two adoptive cats went three days without food and water, how long can a young child exist?
