How Waffle

Apart from the traditional maple syrup and/or butter, what have you ever put on a waffle as a topping?

1) honey
2) corn syrup
3) jam or jelly
4) ice cream
5) lemon curd
6) chocolate sauce or syrup
7) fresh, frozen or canned fruit
8) peanut butter (or other nut butters including Nutella)
9) molasses
10) sugar (white or brown)
11) whipped cream in any form
12) marshmallow
13) other (specify)

I've seen a chain restaurant commercial where they put fried chicken on a waffle, then pour syrup on it.
My husband went down to South Carolina a month ago and couldn’t believe it was a regular item down there. He said it was crazy sweet but really good and that the southern hospitality was very friendly.

I prefer jam , jelly and / or cheese but I’d cook the cheese into the waffle so it’s crispy gooey.

I've had the Belgian style waffles topped with fresh strawberries or peaches and whipped cream but I usually eat the frozen waffles from the grocery store with a little butter and SF pancake syrup.

In the 30s there was a Sunday supper craze with waffles cooked at the table and topped with all sorts of creamed meats and vegetables.

I live in the middle of Virginia.

It's still a "thing" here. Likely even more of a thing the further south you go.

I've never had it that way, but when I was a kid we would have waffles with Chicken a la King (pot pie filling) spooned over top...this was in Indiana. Great cold-weather comfort food.

Haven't had it in years.
