How would humans take it if they were no longer the domanant species on earth?

Humanity may have a chance soon to confront a dominant species — an AI smart enough to continually improve and evolve itself until it far exceeds its creator. I hope we survive the encounter.

We will not always be the dominant species. We will always have the power to kill other species as long as we are here, I think, but I'm betting we just die out, while some other more adaptable species carries on. I'm not thinking this species will think or plan, and it will probably be something we would NOT view as important. It will be very small and simple. Right now there are lower forms of life that survive and thrive on environments that are absolutely intolerable to humans. Deep sea vents with scalding temperatures come to mind. Something like that my live on. I think life has a good chance of surviving, while most species will not. I don't think intelligence will be the determining factor in survival.
