The idea behind Web3 & decentralized Internet is having ownership of personal information and web activities. When you use decentralized internet the information you add gets broken down into blocks, hence a blochain consists of information from various sources that connect like a chain. Parts of your information are distributed and joined by other blockchains that with the proper ID can be recovered to its original state.

You can determine how much information you choose to share such as loan application, or income tax form, you control your information by what you choose to disclose and you always have a record of the information.

Distributed web is exactly what it says. Information is divided into blocks that form a chain or blockchain and distributed throughout the internet if the source of computing is connected to a distributed network aka decentralized network.

This is very interesting to me. Not only will decentralized computing take the place of central networks such as my internet provider. The internet will consist of blockchain technology which computers are linked together by sharing blocks of information on their hard drive. When blockchain technology becomes the primary source for computing, everyone will contribute and exchange information.

I wish I could join your thread but unfortunately that's all a foreign language to me!
My husband is the techy in our home.

Most seniors, self included, grew up in a different society than today. The things we learned was for our generation's survival and success. not necessarily for future generations. We process and think differently than our younger counterparts which makes it difficult to grasp the intricacies of computer programing, likes and dislikes.

I've never heard of any of this before, but that doesn't surprise me. I'd like to know more about it so I could decide if it would be helpful to me. So often it seems like we are bombarded with ads to by this or that, without knowing what the dang thing even is. I see this on Amazon, and it's even worse on ebay: "ZappoJack expands your internet horizons for home and car. Blue Tooth and Wifi." But WTF does it do?

Unfortunately, anything that the security eggheads design, the hackers figure out ways around it in no time flat. Which side do the smarter ones work for?
I don't know much about this stuff, but I can rebuild just about anything mechanical.

I would rather go back to Web 1.0 when websites were plain, like GitHub and Wikipedia, without all kinds of code deploying that chokes even the most powerful computers.
