Hello. My name is Sylvia. I live in South Carolina. I moved from N Carolina after my husband died to Charleston to be near my family.

HI There Sylvia, you've come to the right place to help relieve your loneliness. Very nice to meet you

Welcome from London England....just jump right in to any discussions that take your fancy.. or come and play word games too if you like that sort of thing.. which many of us do...

Hi there Sylvia! Welcome to our little hang out on the net! You can kick off your shoes and jump right in... Jim

Welcome Sylvia!

You're in Charleston SC? I'm a "This Old House" fan and they're running a series about two homes there -- have you seen any celebs or film crews? Hope I have the right town, 'cause I know there are several Charlestons and Charlottesvilles in that part of the country.

I hope you'll enjoy this forum as much as I do! The games are really fun, the humor is great and the diaries are a nice way to get to know other "neighbors"!

:rose::wave: Hi Sylvia, yes, you've joined a group of warm and friendly seniors your age. You can fill out your profile with your interests and such which will help everyone know what you like to talk about. You've already shared a little about yourself in your opening post here so that's very helpful.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's so hard but you were wise to move close to family where you can be surrounded by those you know and love.

Charleston is a beautiful southern town! Check out their farmers market in the city park. It's fun!

Hi Sylvia!

Thank you Ruth, for replying. My daughters name is Ruth and my mother's name was Ruth. I was so bored I am trying to paint a kitchen chair.

OK! Mom's name was Ruth! I really know how bored you must be if you are painting. I hate painting almost as much as mowing grass!

Welcome! I'm kinda new here and it does seem to be a friendly supportive crowd.

Hi, Sylvia:welcome:

I've always wanted to paint a chair. What color will it be?

An indication of boredom. Cushions I will cover are huge, comical, colorful birds, many colors. I have chosen chalk paint and painting each chair a different color from the birds; black, bright blue, mustard and dark red. I just like something quite different. My children are kind enough to just let me be.
I live in a one bedroom condo to avoid senior homes where I probably could not paint. I also like to take pictures of trees. Charleston is blessed with trees. Then I print them and frame them. Well, I like them.

You are certainly as far from me as one can be in the US. I hope the weather is nice in LA. I have been watching the weather station. Sylvia

Retired 80 year old

How is the rain situation? I have been watching the weather station. Living near my children and grandchildren keeps me out of Senior homes. They tolerate me, check on me every day and let me do as I please. What I really need is a neighbor who likes coffee and conversation. Although I live in a large condo complex but I never see any old people.

Hi, Bingo. I lived many years with my husband in Gaston County. Did you get lonely moving to Illinois? All my friends had died so moving wasn't difficult. However, I hate to interfere with my children's lives. They are always so busy and I feel guilty asking them to take me somewhere. But at least I am near the people I love. Sylvia

Hi Nona. I can tell how old I am by how long it took me to be able to communicate on this site. I hate to quit to lower my frustration. How do you feel about living near your family? Do you feel like a drag on them? All my dearest friends are dead and I am not accustomed to never laughing and talking and taking trips with friends.Sylvia
