Well,I had the procedure yesterday-at least the first part of it.They have to map out all of the arteries that feed the tumor (or tumors) and determine how many of the beads they need to treat it or them with.
It was a very long day at the hospital, but more for Mr. Robinson as I was asleep (twilight sleep) for most of the day. I was in there for 8 hours. The only thing of noting was that at the end, they sent a PA in to explain to me that they ended up having to give me the maximum amount of radiation that they can so I may end up with some burns on my skin. They had explained to me before the procedure about why they use radiation for this part of it-something about it possibly affected your lungs or something-but I didn`t pay real close attention because they said that pretty much never happens. I should have known right then and there that it would happen to me lol. Even my nurse came to listen in on the discussion because he said he has been on that floor for a year now and had never heard of it actually happening,so wanted to hear what they said.
Anyway,I go back next week for the beads and that is only supposed to take about an hour. This is not a cure, but is designed to buy more time. Meanwhile,I still feel fine and all of my labs look excellent. Even my tumor markers-which were at 3.6,are now at 2.6. Very, very low.
Thanks again for the well wishes!
