Where did I find this operating relic?
Mogumber, a place 120 kms north of Perth in Western Australia.
It is what is called a settlement, not officially a townsite.
Population 58

It is the location where the Moore River East joins the Moore River.

As with the majority of places in Australia it has a pub.
Called The Mogumber Hub (formerly Black Bull Tavern)

It was on the verge of closing down until The Mogumber Outback Club bought it and instigated renovations.
New Years Eve the Mogumber Rodeo happens. Attended by 3500 spectators. One has to book early as it is sold out every year

In the early 90s the were more than 80,000, 20 years ago there were 36,000 pay phones, the number now is less than half at 15,000.

Then maybe you need to relay your concerns to your husband.

Nope he does not want a cell phone, of course, I have voiced my concerns. As for my cell phone, sorry, I was not clear - I can make calls on it, but mostly keep it for an emergency. Just no texting.

They took out our last one during the summer when they did major construction on the streets and sidewalks here. I was sorry to see it go. Now it is a parking space.

Since the road grader and other county repair services like replacing road culverts rip out my phone line a couple times a year and it takes days to get it fixed, yeah, its a problem. I usually end up emailing my brother in another state to call repair services for me.
