When my late uncle went into assisted care, I cleaned out his apartment. He had a lot of vintage CW records albums - the old stuff - Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Roy Acuff, etc. I brought them to my house - almost 100 albums. After my uncle passed, a friend of his contacted me and asked if I knew what happened to my uncle's records. I told him that I had them. He said he was interested in getting them. I agreed and to get them out of the way, I said he could have them all for $50. He wanted to come and look at them, but since he doesn't drive, I had to go and pick him up and bring him to my house on top of it.
He did give me $50 and we were all satisfied. He has asthma and had to use his inhaler several times. Just walking from the car to the back door made him breathless (he is a huge man), so after all this, I had to carry the boxes of records out to my car, take him home, then carry the boxes into his house.
I was telling a friend what happened and she said, "You made him pay? Why didn't you just give him the records?" Apparently she though it was very money-grubbing of me to charge him for the records.
Any opinions?
