I Couldn't Find My PO Box Keys. Found It! But...

First, it was in the bag I carry for the ferals, which was at home. I was on my way to feed them yesterday late because it was gardener day and I didn't want to get up at 0530. I had a handful of envelopes and a box of yarn I ordered (need my head examined) and I was afraid I had put them on the hood of the car or something after checking the inside of the car thoroughly and couldn't find them.

I went to the post office to ask if I could still get my mail with my ID before I found the keys today. I had ordered some bar soap from Etsy I wanted to pick up. Unfortunately, I got the woman at the counter I don't like. She said "no we don't hand mail over the counter." True or not, I don't know. She said key replacement would be 15 dollars and it would take up to 2 weeks because they would come from back east. Luckily when I got home, I found the keys. I might stop before work to pick up the soap tomorrow if I have time.

We used to have combination PO boxes but they replaced them a number of years ago and they are all keyed now. I'm glad my box is now on a side isle and not on the main post office hall but of course I got one on the very top and I'm short.

Why am I posting this. I don't know. But the fact they won't give you the mail, I found ridiculous. My drivers license even has my PO box on it.

I have duplicate keys for everything. My main keys are on a lanyard. Most of the duplicates (including post office box duplicate) are in my purse.

My duplicate apartment keys are on a separate lanyard that hangs on my door. I wear this lanyard even if I'm just stepping out for a second. I trained myself to do this after I'd locked myself out of the building a few times when taking out the garbage. I got tired of waking my upstairs neighbor, borrowing ladders from other neighbors, or freezing outside in my T-shirt.

I wear both lanyards when I go shopping, etc. Only problem is, now I've started forgetting my purse at home.

I have a PMB and simply adore the ladies who run it. I get all my packages)letters without a single loss (But one accidental misplaced letter) and my state FORBIDS using such for a driver's license, however, due to the "Real ID Act" not yet implemented, I got away with it!

They not only have handed me my mail, they've even tried to haul out the pkgs I'd order for me instead of me lugging it. I'm going to miss them when I move.
