I did a DUMB thing!

A few months ago I began subscribing to two things at amazon ,that I usually buy every month-
The subscription price is a little cheaper.
BUT I forgot to deduct one of the subscriptions every month from my checking account for 3 months!

I had to subtract almost 100 bucks from my balance today when I realized that!
I also cancelled the subscription.

I am very good at handling my budget every month but I feel so dumb for making this mistake.
The other subscription I have, I faithfully subtracted each month from my balance and it was in my budget list.... but I forgot all about the other monthly subscription.

One of the finance people at Fox news the other day , mentioned that we all might be paying for subscriptions we really do not need.

don't be hard on yourself.. it happens to the best of us, and the most careful.

I refuse to have subscriptions to anything for the same reason as you state that it's easy to forget which ones you might have or overlook a payment somewhere

Subscriptions can be quite cheeky though. With Apple, some subscriptions make it extra hard to cancel. They claim you can cancel at any time but you’ve gotta jump through loops to do it. Even then, at times even after cancelling they will re-subscribe you without your permission. I refuse to leave a usable credit card on my apple phone for that very reason.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes. That’s how we learn.

Yeah, I don't do ANY subscriptions
I do pay everything online and auto pay for utilities, mortgage and such

But
I get notified via email when the next auto pay is coming up and again when it's withdrawn

Otherwise I'd be tapping into my checking acct a couple times a day

Yes, this is especially true with anything tied to Google

I think websites like Amazon (and my Chewy acct) are hoping that you will forget about setup subscriptions.
... they hope to catch you off guard, and bill you for more than you want.

Cheaper when you really want things, but expensive when you don't!

Thank you all- because I feel better now about this mistake I made.

I still pay for the annual pricey Prime charges -for no shipping charges, because where I live it is impossible to get what I need sometimes.

I have a friend who shops a lot in Rochester at the Mall, but ,with gas high, and weather concerns, I think the Prime membership is a good deal for me. My podiatrists tell me not to go to Malls either, as there is concrete under the tiled floors and the reason I have a foot condition is because I worked for many years, on concrete.

That's pretty minor so don't worry about it.

I don't like subscription type stuff. I buy a lot of cat food, real good quality for my two and Iams for the ferals. I could save on subscriptions I'm sure, but I don't want something I forgot about showing up at the door. I did order 32 pounds of Iams from Chewy recently. It's much cheaper per pound and I'll re-order when needed.

Getting prime shipping is great, especially if you are in a remote area. I can always count on Amazon to come through. It’s worth the subscription. Our individual shipping was far too much.

The only subscription I have is chewy and they warn you before shipping so you can change or cancel the order. I don’t have prime because I just make sure to order 25 of goods to get free shipping.

Well, you have to pay for utilities. so why not autopay them? The same with insurances. Most credit card companies are starting to send texts for purchases, etc.

I have never autopaid utilities since a friend had the power company deduct $1,400 from her acount for a $140.00 bill. It took a month for them to correct their error and refund her money-and she had to argue with them about not just giving her a credit towards her future bills!
