I Got a Call from a Very Skilled Phone Scammer This Morning

I've answered a few of these scam calls in recent weeks....saying they are offering a good deal on "end of life" expenses. One of their first questions is "how old are you"....to which i respond "94", and the line quickly goes dead. i guess they only want to talk to people they can scam for decades. Then, I add their number to my call blocker.

I don’t answer robo calls, but for some reason I did a few months ago - it was my grandson - only I don‘t have a grandson. Seems the poor boy had been in a dreadful automobile accident and had been arrested. I just strung him along until we got to the money. I said I think you should have called someone else - dial tone. I make it a cut and dried answer for anyone on the phone. I NEVER buy or donate on the phone EVER! I am very careful when they are standing at my door too.

but that's just stipidity... grandparents have a fairly long conersation with someone posing as their grandson.. and they don't realise this is not his voice.. ?.. they don't say ''let us call you back''.. they don't say let us call your mother..?...
Not all grandparents are in close touch with their grandchildren. Some may have hearing difficulties...like I said any number of reasons HD. My youngest grandson developed a voice deeper than his father's seemingly over night. I mean his voice is deep. If I hadn't talked to him in even a few months, let alone years, I wouldn't have believed it was him! Blessedly I get to speak with him more often than that but my point is some people don't hear from their children or grandchildren in years. Apparently, like Pecos wrote, they seem to be able to gather enough information so as to seem legit. BTW, with some of these scams, the pretense is it's their lawyer calling, not the grandchild.
