I Got My Shingles Injection

Then I got suicidal ideation.

Wanted to kill myself for all of the nonsense I posted on-line when I was mentally ill and not properly medicated. I don't plan on offing myself anytime soon, but still feeling skittish and unnerved.

Hi Beezer, nice to see you drop in. Shingles vaccines do not set well with some
people. Suicidal ideations are difficult and frightening. Take your time of course
with hopefully getting and feeling better.
Jeez, I won't be getting the shingles vaccine.
What a bargain, not.
EDIT: no need to reprimand me, just my opinion

as I have said before, almost everybody our age group has had chicken pox, whether they had symptoms or not.

Even asymptomatic chicken pox still leaves the virus dormant in your system so it can still flare up into shingles later.

Are you connecting getting the shot to your suicidal ideation? Notice any side effects yet? Also, is only one shot required?

I've batted around the idea of getting the shingles vaccine for literally a couple of decades. Once when I was close, I read the efficacy wasn't that great, so I decided to just keep my immune system boosted. I hope that proves to be sufficient.

Really? I had read somewhere that it lowered your risk of getting shingles from one in three to one in thirty so I went ahead and got both shots. Didn't notice any adverse affects either.

Hi Beezer, glad to see you're back. I thought I'd posted that yesterday, but per usual, I screwed up.

When I read your title the first time, I thought it said "singles vaccine" and wondered if you'd been moonlighting as an exotic dancer.

I would still recommend the shingles vaccine. I just happen to have the underlying affliction of schizophrenia....which blew up after the injection.
Thanks for all of the thoughtful salutations! 👍🤗
Oh, I thought the suidical ideation was a side effect of the vaccine. It seems to be a side effect of many medications, including, strangely enough, antidepressants. (I think this was discussed in a different thread.)

Anyway, glad you are OK!

I don't know when those stats were released. It's been about 10 years since I researched and found the efficacy wasn't that good, so it could have been years later. Good thing you didn't have any side effects. At least one member (forgot who) said the side effect was bad.
@OneEyedDiva there's two shingrix shots. I think you get one and come back and get the second one in 2-6 months depending on if you're immunocomprimised.
Thank you my friend.

That was probably referencing the original version by another company. Shingrix has a very high rating. Talk to your GP.
