I Guess TaxAct Does Not Want My Business

This year, they now require a texted code sent to your mobile phone. Well, we don't get cell coverage. Spoke with support and there in no alternative. My daughter's phone may be able to get cell texts - will check when she gets home. I very much dislike all this cell phone garbage!
Friendly advice--get on board with cell phones. They aren't going away and they have a lot of benefits. You must be very remote if you don't have coverage. What do you do for tv?

If you want, you can get a virtual SMS (text) number. Messages are sent to your computer or email. Some are free and some are paid. Or temporary or permanent.

I've never used one. But I do have a paid voicemail number that works on a similar principle. I got it years ago, when I didn't have a phone but had to provide a phone number. It's still the number I give to government, doctor's office, etc.

Just leave a message
Maybe I'll call 🎵🎶

No, I will hold out on that. Have a flip phone, or at least had one til I lost it a month ago. My wife has a cell phone and we rely on that for trips and such. As for tv, between our antenna channels, Amazon Prime, and YouTube, we have more than we need.

You might also be able to receive text messages on your landline or flip phone. I remember receiving one on a landline years ago. Test it out by asking someone to text you. Your phone will ring. When you answer, an automated voice will read the text to you. (Maybe.)

This won't be useful if the other party sends you a link to a website.

I use free google voice with my landline, which does receive text messages.
However, many of the more dictatorial agencies won't send text messages to voip numbers.
That has caused some issues since I don't use a cell phone and don't have any plans to ever get one.

Well, my daughter's phone got the text and I got my account. A 14% increase in price! I only use TaxAct because it allows my to import from last year and I am used to it. I have to file Schedule C due to a small income from internet publishing, which I will end this year. Can't wait to get to a simple tax return that I won't get gouged for over $150. Oh how I dread taxes so very much!
