I had a horribly frustrating experience this afternoon....

As I mentioned in another post, I went to the orth doc, and confirmed I need my left hip replaced. THAT was not the bad news..as I knew this was coming.
So, I am leaving the doctor office, and the first thing I see is my passenger rear tire is flat. Not the highlight. So I get my car (a Toyota) and hit the "Toyota Care" button. That is where you talk with a repand order service, a tow truck, or whatever. No big deal right?
Remember this..I placed the initial call at about 3:45 PM. so, 45 mins later, no truck. I called back, and asked where. They said, sorry we will resubmit the dispatch. Long story short...I waited over 4 hours for service truck to come. After about the 3rd hour,,"Oh, it seems no one was dispatched. Hold please" Call disconnects. I had to keep calling back through the Toyota care in my car (had forgotten my cell phone)
I finally got home at 8:15.

I was not happy at all.

Time for a written complaint to Toyota and Toyota Care. Maybe even to an online complaint site. You deserve some compensation of some sort since you bought this service.
I plan to do that. The service guy said that a lot of people have issues with Toyota Care. I do plan to switch to AAA. I mean, this is the first time I have needed to call for service since I got the car, and I was not impressed

Toyota Care=Deplorable!!! 😖
Marie, as a backup, some car insurance companies have Road side assistance.
(I have..and had to use) it isn't very expensive.
You should check...before going to AAA.
Just another idea.
Good Luck!😉

So sorry to hear about your experience @Marie5656. I hit a pothole several months ago and my tire went flat. I tried calling Audi roadside assistance and was put on perpetual hold. I finally looked up tow services and found Out Da Mud in Dallas (yes, that is the real name). The guy showed up in less than an hour and put my spare on for me. He was so nice and thorough. It did cost me but it was worth not having to wait. I still have his business card in my car for future emergencies. Sounds like the care provided by automakers is pretty lacking.

So sorry you had to experience this Marie! It can be frustrating when you rely on a company and they don't pull through like they should have! I agree with others here that you need to write a complaint to Toyota. I also have a Toyota but have opted to use AAA all these years. AAA has been very reliable. Also, good luck with the hip replacement!

AAA is not much better nowadays. I have AAA and OnStar in my truck and Stinkys car. However If you are near a busy highway or anywhere on the road during rush hour or club nights to even get put on the service call list you have to tell the call center dispatcher you broke down in the road blocking traffic. Shame.

That's terrible Marie! I'm so sorry you had to go through that and I hope you never experience that again. I bought a new Toyota Camry in 1994. I did have an issue with it as it aged but I never had Toyota Care. I always had AAA and the tow trucks would pretty much show up within the time frame I was given, usually 45 minutes. I'm glad you are going to lodge a formal complaint.

I plan to do that. The service guy said that a lot of people have issues with Toyota Care. I do plan to switch to AAA. I mean, this is the first time I have needed to call for service since I got the car, and I was not impressed
Before you ditch Toyota Care. I was a long-time member of AAA. They towed me out of a snowbank once. But, one icy day, I slid off the road into snow. I called AAA. They put me in touch with a tow truck guy. he said I lived "way up there" so I had to make it worth " his time "to help me. I found out later that I was not the only one, who had the same thing with this particular AAA. BTW, I called Geiko, who sent a guy at no charge.

This is more positive. I'm from Canada and last week the weather was truly miserable. I'm talking very, very cold. I went to start my car and the battery died after about 3 seconds of cranking. I phoned CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) and the guy came after 45 minutes and started my car. I was pleased with the fact that they came as promised but I was very disappointed with the fact that I had to talk to some telephone robot to get my service. For all the money that I have paid them I expect to talk to live voice as I have in the past. I get their magazine and they used to always advertise about their director and his "beautiful" wife going on CAA cruises. I really don't care about the director and his "beautiful" wife but I sure would like to talk to a human voice when I'm sitting in a ditch out in some remote country place and the temperature outside is -35 C with a howling Canadian wind blowing.

So sorry, Marie, about the hip and the call. I hate waiting and usually can't take it after about two hours and leave. Of course you can't storm off if your car wont move. The whole situation was just awful for you!
