I have a question about large print books.

I decided to pick up a couple of large print books at the library the other day. I really enjoyed reading them. Very easy on the eyes. My question is,do they condense large print books?
Maybe some are written just for large print. I don't want to miss out on details they have left out so it will fit the format..

I wouldn't think large print books are condensed. I agree with Kaila, that they would have more pages. You could always compare by looking for the regular size print copy of the same book.

Found this....

If the font is bigger, it stands to reason the book will be bigger as well, right? That large print titles seemingly defy basic logic makes this one of the most prevalent misconceptions. In fact, large print titles are often the same size or smaller than their hardcover or trade paperback counterparts and weigh about the same as a traditional hardcover book. The common reaction to learning this fact is, “Well, to be the same size or smaller, they must be abridged.” This is also false. The magic here lies in the combination of printing on a thinner, higher quality paper and laying out the text to maximize the use of white space.

Oh, I just realized that you meant to just compare the number of pages.

When I first read and replied to you, Pinky, I thought you meant we could read all the pages of both to see if they left any sentences out!

Thank you Kaila, Pinky and Holly.
The site Holly found does make sense along with some other interesting facts.
My 11 year old grandson hates reading. I'm going to mention to my daughter about getting a couple of books in large print in subjects he is interested in and see if it helps.

That's a great idea..but also remember you can enlarge the print on a kindle too...:)

I got a couple of large-print books out of the library and found out that I just cannot read the large print for any length of time. I guess I'm a creature of habit.

I'm (trying) to read a book now that has over 1300 pages of the smallest print I've ever seen. It's difficult, really difficult. The pages are smaller than the average book but it still looks like I'm looking at an acre of print. It probably doesn't help that it was written over 50 years ago and translated from Arabic, so the wording can be difficult at time. It's actually three books in one, but I can't find the separate books.

Very good idea, Ruth. You might also be able to locate some humorous books for his age group, that might encourage his reading.
