I learned something new today!

I learned that you shouldn't squeeze a tube of super glue too hard as it might break and squirt out too fast.

I learned that fingernail polish remover won't dissolve super glue.

I also learned that if you glue your fingers together with super glue, you don't have to go to the emergency room to get them unglued. Just go to your local fire station and they'll put some stuff on them and get them apart with no problems. They'll laugh at you, but they'll get the job done.

I learned that even if firemen laugh at old ladies, they're really nice guys.

Don't ask me how I learned all this today......please.

All the times I've messed with super glue, it's good to know that the local fire station can help unglue fingers.

Now I've learned something new today too! :) Thanks.

Always put on nitrile gloves, when dealing with super glue. That will save you from the annoying experience of gluing your fingers together, but will also eliminate your fun at the fire station.

Ive had my share of embarrassment with 3 firemen a few years ago. I didn’t have Pickles yet so about 12 years ago.

This was not too long after my husband died and I had just returned from visiting my daughter and I was just unpacking when my smoke alarm went off and I couldn’t change it...it was a very difficult type and since then I’ve had all 8 of them replaced with easier ones to change batteries.

I got frustrated with the beeping so called the non emergency fire dept number hoping they could help me.

I told the lady on the phone my problem ...and she told me to go outside and wait in front of my house and she’d send someone. I thought it strange she wanted me to go outside but I did.

About 2 minutes after I hear sirens and see a fire truck coming around the corner....3 firemen got out...I mumbled something and they come in the house and go to my room where the alarm was beeping...I already had a ladder there...I was really embarrassed about the whole thing but the worst part was that not too far from the ladder was my pile of dirty clothes...including my undies.

Hoping they didn’t notice :)

Only good thing was that they even had trouble changing that battery, that made me feel better.

Well, being me, I will respect your request not to ask...………..How did you learn all this today?

Just last week I learned about the kindness of firemen to ol' ladies. My sister was visiting me and she sort of took a misstep going up a small step from my den to the kitchen and just sort of sat down. She has very bad knees and couldn't get up. I tried to help her, but she outweighs me by a little more than 100 pounds, so I was no help at all. We tried everything we could think of, all to no avail, and none of my able-bodied neighbors were home.

So we decided there was no option but to call for help. I went outside to wait for them and pretty quick here came a great huge fire truck and out poured several firemen. They came in and got her up in about 10 seconds. She was terribly embarrassed, but they were very nice and kind about the whole thing. I had thought they would come in one of their station wagon type things, but nope, we got a big huge ladder truck.

I want to think that everyone finds doing something they can easily do for someone who definitely needs the help is a rewarding experience unto itself. Being able to help your sister probably made those guys' day.

:bigwink:

My oldest boy is a firefighter paramedic. They go on calls like this all the time! Honestly, they are so happy and relieved to have this kind of call interspersed with the really awful, gut wrenching ones. For my son, the ones involving children are the worst...he has 4 kids.

And by law they have to send a rig out on a call.
