I got in touch with these people because I was desperate to find out why my husband was acting the way he was. I don't have mental illness or depression but want to understand depression. I go to group sessions, my insurance approved it. You think you know about depression or other parts of it, but until you go where they go (the ones seeking help and actually fight this on a day to day basis) where they go and get to know their battles, you really have no idea the extent of mental health. Plus, I have made new friends and doctors (psychiatrists, therapists).
There are months that declare national mental health month, and organizations. When it actually touched my life, it made a difference. I found it by Dr. Google. The first one on the list was NAMI and part of it was in my area, so I got in touch with them. I did talk to a psychologist and a therapist and they are wonderful, this gives me a new level of understanding and confidence.
