I picked the last of my string beans today and made restaurant style green beans. I first mixed 1 Tbs. low sodium soy sauce,1 Tbs honey, and 1 Tbs. water together in a small bowl. Over med/high heat melt 1 Tbs. butter and 2 Tbs. olive oil. Add 12 oz. of beans sprinkled with 1/2 teas. kosher salt and sauté until tender crisp and brown. Reduce heat to low and add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, then add combined ingredients from bowl. Stir until the liquid is reduced to a glaze and coats the beans. These beans have no eye appeal but are really tasty. green beans (800x600).jpg

It's best to pick produce from the garden while it is still young and fresh.

My friend gave me some lettuce and boy was it tough.

A good gardener will space the planting of the seeds so that there will always be fresh produce.

Even flowers should be planted that way and then they won't all be going into seed.

Anyway now it is wild mushroom season. Does anyone pick wild mushrooms.?

They have a very distinctive taste compared to the common cultivated ones.

Yum! I love the sweet and savory idea with soy sauce and honey.
And, of course, fresh garlic kicks everything up a notch for flavor. WTG Ruth!
And I like how you retained the bright green color for freshness and nutrition!
