My way back forebears were transported to Tasmania via the Convicts Transportation Scheme (free passage)
I was so lucky that my way back rellies done what they done.
Transported to one of the most beautiful and diverse countries in the world.
We have no control over where we are born and as such, fate has played a huge part in my life.
I thank you, British Government.
As I am sure the descendants of the 76,000 convicts you transported to Tasmania do as well.

Yes, Australia and New Zealand were known as Convict Island but you have thrived and and made it one of the most desirable places in the world. Well done!

I'm not sure that I wish my forebears had been Criminals so I could get to live in a beautiful country... but it worked out well for hundreds of thousands
