Peppermint Creamer.jpg

Thought I'd do something different for the holidays so, I bought some peppermint bark coffee creamer. When I cracked open the cap and got a whiff, I thought oh no, Milk Of Magnesia! πŸ˜„ When I looked inside, it was pure white, just like Milk Of Magnesia. πŸ™„ I know that the peppermint bark candy that I've seen is white but, for some reason I thought the creamer would be brown, milk chocolate or something. I tried it in my coffee and was not impressed; did not like it. It was much better in my instant cappuccino, which has chocolate in it. Even so, I won't be buying it this holiday season. I guess that's why I thought it would be brown; because of peppermint in hot cocoa.

Reading the ingredients list would have helped you decide whether you’d like it or not before you bought it.
I'm sure I read it. πŸ˜ƒ Wanted to see how much peppermint was in it because my stomach can't take too much of it. I read most labels, especially something new. It didn't help with determining if I would like it in this case.

That's too bad. The Peppermint Mocha is good. I don't normally use it because of the sugar but I've tried it and like it. .
I'll trust your recommendation on the peppermint bark even though the candy is good

Peppermint bark? That doesn't even sound like something I would tryπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Yes, I enjoyed the peppermint mocha I got for the holidays. I also got amaretto and caramel macchiato, so everyone had a choice when it came time for after dinner coffee.

My wife said the peppermint mocha was like Christmas in a cup.

The only trouble is, the holidays are over, no more company, and this stuff is still good for months, and I simply cannot allow myself to get rid of it until it expires. LOL.

TURNIPS! I tried this at some point in my life and didn't like it! My mother did not feed us kids turnips, so I never developed a taste for them. When I look at them sliced and cooked, I expect them to taste different than they do. I think when cooked they can sometimes become translucent. They then remind me of pears. I expect (or hope, rather) that they will taste sweetish. Maybe I can come to like them. Do you have a simple, delicious family recipe that I might like?

RUTABAGAS Are turnips like rutabagas? I've never had them. They certainly look alike. I've often heard of rutabaga pie.

Rutabagas & turnips mashed make an acceptable alternative to potatoes, They were used during the depression. They are actually more healthy if you're diabetic. My SO & DD have started using them. The tariff police have so far let them be. My father was my info source for them. He said grandma used them instead of potatoes.

OTOH we DID get fed turnips when we were kids... it was one of the few vegetables I liked... it's a tradition in Scotland to have turnip ( neeps) served with Haggis

I guess with salt, pepper and butter like mashed potatoes. Maybe the weird taste would not be as strong. πŸ˜›
