My current laptop, and for a variety of reasons, is pretty much done.

I have had the following already over the years: DELL, LENOVO, TOSHIBA.

Taking recommendations. Thanks. ;) or any thing about what you think is
a great brand and why.

OR, you are also welcome to pm me if you'd like.

^^^probably should get new reading glasses first lol. But
in reply to OldAunts post, I will mostly be using it for just
basic stuff, emailing, pics, photos, videos, files, some streaming.
I want a good screen display, efficient processor, and affordable,
lightweight and portable, still thinking on it all, just getting started.

If you are not set on getting a Windows laptop then I would strongly suggest considering buying a Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook. It is around $350 and is rather pricey as far as chrome books go but it does have a very nice screen resolution if you are planning on streaming shows and movies.

Thank YOU @ Markinphx :)

On amazon search with: "IPS 1080p windows pc"
Read reviews both on amazon and elsewhere.
Don't gamble buying a discounted "renovated" unit. Computers are complex with many ways to fail, especially intermittently. Although some buyers may have merely been trying out a model, returns are more likely to have been returned for real issues that some renovators too often would rather try putting back on shelves with a discount hoping someone won't notice.

thanks @David777 helpful info!

I just got a new laptop. I decided this time to get a business-grade or Intel Evo laptop since they're supposed to last longer. Anyway, I bought an Acer Swift 3 14" and I abso love it!:

I bought it from Amazon; they had a really good sale, they even beat WalMart's price. And if you don't care about having the OLED screen, that'll save you some money. The ones without OLED still have pretty nice high-def screens. (But I gotta tell ya; once you go OLED, you'll never go back, baby! :ROFLMAO: )

I have two Windows 11 Pro laptops, an ASUS ExpertBook 14" with an Intel CPU and an ASUS VivoBook 14" with an AMD Ryzen CPU. Both of these computers are simply awesome - rock solid in every way. The VivoBook has an OLED display but is a bit heavier than the ExpertBook which has an LCD display. The ExpertBook is made with a magnesium chassis and weighs in at only 2.6 pounds. It is super lightweight. I also have a Google PixelBook Chromebook computer which I really love.

We have a local tech guy who buys Lenovo and refurbishes them. They are top knotch and he gives tech support. I've had mine for 10 years with no issues...hubs has one too. See if you have some local tech guys that do the same. Originally mine was $3500! I paid $250. Also, I use an Amazon fire tablet for lots of stuff. I'm using it now. At Christmas I bought the 10 inch for $75.00! Cheap tech rules!

Sorry as I'm using the dark gray background I can't see your post.
I have to do this too, just highlight with your mouse and you can read the dark text. I prefer the gray background, so this is just a small inconvenience for me. My eyesight can't handle the stark white backgrounds anymore.

I have an Apple MacBook that I have owned for at least 9 years. I had the hard drive replaced a couple of years ago and it is once again quick and like new. I highly recommend it.
