I'd rather have a dog...........

This goes along with the thread about the doggy suit guy. I heard on the radio they did a study about how some preferred dogs. It was like 80% would rather have a dog than another sibling, or the one they have. Something like 60% would rather have a dog than a parent. or a spouse. And 80% would trade a relative for a dog.

Dogs can't help it .... they are just lovable and loyal naturally.

I can't think of anyone close to me for whom I'd exchange a dog, but other than that, it's pretty-much a blanket, "I'd rather have a dog."

Fortunately, the problem is not an either/or issue. You can have one or both or neither. Having said that, little kids and dogs seem to get along fine, and when little kids forget about the dog because they get focused on some playtime fantasy with their friends, the dog is still there watching and wagging his tail in approval. Dogs go well with lots of things. And when crazy Aunt Mary shows up, it's still the dog you loved before.
