I've noticed in several British dramas a musical vocal background is used during scenes where tension is increasing. I'm running out of descriptive words, so please watch the video clip I excerpted from the Netflix show called The Gentlemen:

It dosen't seem, 'operatic' as suggested by the title of the video clip. It sounds more like some form of Classical Choral Work, or maybe a very simple Gregorian Chant?

Repetitive subdued string instrument in the background. The words seem repetitive too, perhaps Latin. My first thought was something that might be heard from a cathedral choir?

On a different note, this song seems to be associated with the show too.

"...What's your name? What's your name? Who's your daddy? Who's your daddy? He rich?... Is he rich like me?"

Classic. A dreamy popular sound from the '60s. Almost psychedelic.
