Idiots on Bikes

I saw two this evening!

I went out to the Supermarket in the cool of the evening,
approaching the shop from the car park, I had to jump
back, out of the way of a stupid cyclist coming along the
road, looking at his phone, sending a message, no hands
on the handle bars! Idiot.

The when driving home, another one cycling along while
pulling a young dog on a lead, the dog obviously didn't
want to be there, he was still a pup and was wobbly on
his feet, ready to fall over, they might have come a long
way, too far for the dog. Idiot.

Mike.

Yes, but they are saving the planet by biking and not driving a fossil fueled vehicle like yourself sir. ;)

Our tiny town had cops on bikes.

I was coming out of a store ,, almost got ran over by one.
Ready to open my mouth & give him heck,, when realized it was an 'officer of the law'.

Must be that happened to someone more important,, don't think we have cops on bikes.
Unless its for special events.
Here in Toronto the Toronto Police Service has dozens of officers patrolling on bikes around the clock in all 17 Police divisions. They work in pairs, and they respond to all types of calls for service. Silent, non polluting, and they can approach individuals before they are heard. The cost of a top of the line mountain bike is about $1500. They last for years, and they are a much better investment than a $75,000 SUV which may last 3 or 4 years before it is sold off at auction. That SUV will require insurance, fuel, and regular mechanical servicing during it's life span. The patrol bikes are a good investment. Don't get me wrong, I know that cars and vans are still required in Police operations, but the bikes are a essential part of the Policing service. BTW Toronto also has 35 Police horses, that also patrol every day, across the 245 square mile area that is the City of Toronto. A TPS horse usually has a 15 to 20 year working career, depending on health and potential on the job injuries. They are a low cost alternative to cars in terms of daily cost and they can go where cars cannot, such as the five river waterways , and the Toronto Islands. And the kids love the horses, too.
