I've posted elsewhere the problem we're having with our mail carrier. We have a screened front porch. Inside is a solid wooden front door. There is a mail slot to the outside of the porch door. There is a secure lock on the porch door. Inside the porch is a picture window. So the dogs can be seen and heard, but unless they smash through the front window and then break through a porch window too...very unlikely...they aren't getting out.
Even with the porch locked and the wood door open for ventilation they cannot get out of the house. The lock is such that you need opposing thumbs to open it. Even so we keep getting notes on our mail about "dangerous dogs". It makes it sound like they're happily romping in our front yard. Even if they're in the backyard, they cannot get to the front. We have double fencing facing the sidewalk.
Today at work I saw the Halloween stuff they just put up. One item made me laugh out loud. Oh besides the demon rat that makes ratty noises and the eyes glow ( my daughter has six, they make ratty noises but the eyes don't light up). There is a bendable dog skeleton. Motion activated the eyes glow, the teeth chomp and it barks. If I set it up by our mail slot we'd probably never get delivery again
