If the print book was invented for the first time yesterday, people would be marveling at how
great it is, doesn't need a battery, easy to use, and much better than a tablet or kindle.
Why? Because it is new. And everyone wants something new, technically new. The
auto industry figured that out long ago. We not only need to keep up with the
Jones', we need to have the latest edition or "upgrade". Sometimes it is better,
sometimes it isn't.
If the one volume print encyclopedia was just invented by Apple or Samsung,
everyone would say it is better than Google. It some way, it really is better
than Google. The World Almanac (book) was the primary most commonly used
resource by reference librarians for a long time, long before computers. It has
very reliable documented and official unbiased information.
That's why I don't run out to buy the latest tech gadget.
