How do you know when a psychotherapist or psychiatrist is no good??

1. When they do not know the right questions to ask, much less the answers.

2. WHen you are better off talking to the wall and it feels like it.

3. When they don't seem to understand your feelings at all

4. WHen they do not know the side effects of the medicines you take

5. When they make little jokes and enjoy laughing at you

6. When their attempt at therapy is really chit chat to kill the hour

7. When they charge more than $40.00 an hour. (They charge far more, but they are worth only a fraction of it.)

8. When their talk or advice resembles greeting cards or messages from fortune cookies.

9. When you feel that you need yet another therapist to deal with the annoyance of your current one

10. WHen they are part of the problem not the solution

Hi Athos, and welcome to the forum :). For therapy to be successful, a person must be open to it. There are good ones out there, one should keep looking and never give up!
