If You Saw The Amityville Horror, Do You Believe It Was A True Story (Or At Least Partially So)?

I saw the original movie and thought it was just a horror movie. Years later I became aware of documentaries and news stories that claimed the events were true. I haven't seen the remake nor am I interested in doing so. Here is the trailer for the original.

I was in Amityville many times & saw the actual house. Townsfolk very proud of the place, will go out of their way to direct you there, even if you don't ask. No, I don't believe it, good yarn though, and well told.

The original murder spree is factual. But the supposed supernatural events are suspect, as a means of selling a script to the movies.
