If you visit Casinos, what do you gamble your money on?

I haven’t been to the casinos in years, but only did the slots when there until I had gambled away the stakes that I was given by the bus line for riding them to Atlantic City. When I doubled my money on one visit, I quit immediately, figuring that I wasn’t going to do better than that. The casinos are a strange and unnatural world, almost an alternative reality…

My wife and I enjoy going to Las Vegas. We enjoy the restaurants, entertainment, and of course the gambling. We only go once a year and have a strict budget for gambling. If we lose that cash, we don't gamble anymore.

I like playing Blackjack, and Craps. My wife enjoys the slot machines but will also join me at a table to play Blackjack. We have always considered money we lose gambling as a cost of entertainment. Like all forms of entertainment in Vegas, it costs money to play. The only difference is sometimes in gambling, you can actually win! Admittedly, not often, but it does happen....

We've been going to the casinos for decades...usually about once a month. We play the slots, and I often play Texas Hold'em Poker. We get free rooms if we stay overnight, and most meals for free. Since this Covid hit, they've shut down the buffets...which we enjoyed, so food selection is a bit limited. We used to go to Vegas every Fall, but not in the past couple of years....too many bums roaming the streets of Vegas. When we factor in our "costs" we would pay more for a 3 day cruise than we "waste" on 15+ casino trips, so it suffices for our "entertainment".

We don't feel like suckers. We usually go twice a week, video poker & slots are what we spend money in. We could sit at home watching T V and accumulate money. But winning, breaking even for several hours of entertainment or losing, it's a way of enjoying time together. Typically eating out goes along with our time out.

Right now we are down to $2,000.00 from $3,900.00 winnings. All in all loses exceed winnings but the chance to win a life changing amount to leave more for our sons is always there. AND what we spend has no impact on our financial status.

Today we are going to Palms casino. $50.00 comp free play & 2 for one all you can eat lobster buffet is an incentive to play there. Tomorrow Rampart casino just because we haven't been there for awhile.

For those of you that don't gamble I get it!

But based on a few comments, some of you have 'not a clue' why many of us gamble. It is a form of entertainment that we can afford. At our age, we know what we have and how we choose to spend it.

So, if you cannot say something nice...how about just moving on! You don't know, what you don't know!

The food

It's usually a crap shoot
Gary, you answered your own question, at least for me. When I gamble, I play craps!

Of course, I know in the long-run you cannot beat the house, but if you manage your money and know when to quit...you can win! Not every time mind you, but you can win...and that is the challange the game offers...

Most importantly I do not bet money I cannot afford to lose. I also look at gambling as a form of entertainment. And like many forms of entertainment, it costs to be entertained. But unlike many other forms of entertainment, you can actually win money!

Yeah, I get that
My entertainment is mostly outside
Not big on the glitz of a casino

When in the Reno or Vegas area, we would sometimes go to the casino smorgasbords (cheap eats)

My 'crap shoot' ref was more along the lines of a salad shooter

This Taco Bell poster I created in another life is a pretty good visual;
