If You're Very Ill Or Pass Away Who Would Let Us Know?

There have been threads and posts about wondering what happened to SF members who are MIA. The concerns are real.
Do you have someone on the forum who would notify us should you become very ill and can't participate or you pass away?
For me it's @Pecos and @feywon, both of whom I consider very dear friends. Mechanisms are in place to get my information to them.

I think some forum members have never thought about that. I guess our main concern are family members, co-workers, and people that we have known a long time. But I do understand your concern. Over the years in other forums that I have been a member of, we just wondered what ever happened to so and so. Sometimes we found out that some just grew tired of going online and posting things.

I have no plans nor do I see a need to do so. I'm at best a sporadic poster, so I will not be missed.
When I was nine years old I stood alongside my father at my mother's funeral. Mother was just 34, Father was inspirational. Back at home with him and my siblings, Dad gave me a small card with a message on it. That card and it's message has been in my wallet and my heart all my life. My father lived on and didn't die until he was 92. Between his death and mother's I have stood at a funeral and wept more times than I care to remember, then, having dried my eyes, Dad's card comes out and I read the message aloud:

Don't cry for me now I have died, for I'm still here I'm by your side,
My body's gone but my soul is here, please don't shed another tear,
I am still here I'm all around, only my body lies in the ground.
I am the snowflake that kisses your nose,
I am the frost, that nips your toes.
I am the sun, bringing you light,
I am the star, shining so bright.
I am the rain, refreshing the earth,
I am the laughter, I am the mirth.
I am the bird, up in the sky,
I am the cloud, that's drifting by.
I am the thoughts, inside your head,
While I'm still there, I can't be dead.

So, if you ever see that message, say a prayer for me, then smile, and know that I can still read this forum.

Yes
It'd be my longtime mentor @Meanderer

As far as suddenly dropping dead, that might be iffy

For now, my vision is greatly lacking, so few posts of late

Got an appointment with an ophthalmologist the 13th of Nov
We'll see (pun intended)

My eyes are freshest first thing in the morning, but I mostly save them for Bible study

Like @Gary O' , If I died, I am pretty sure that @Meanderer would let everyone here know, because we are close friends on another forum as well as on here.

Also, while we are talking about this, some of you old-timers here might remember a member named High Desert Hal. He recently passed away at the end of September, and had not been doing well for the last couple of years since his wife died from cancer. He had to go into a care facility, and after that, Hal had a hard time even getting online because his memory was failing fast.

Those funeral cards (sometimes on the back of obituary programs) have some comforting messages. I like the one you posted HC. Also I like your new profile pic...nice! :)
@Pepper So you're gonna keep us in suspense!

I've asked my daughter and O/H to come here to let everyone know if I happen to pop off.
My daughter would do it if I asked her to do it... but it would be remembering to ask her to do it ... so I probably wouldn't...

there's a few people on this forum who have my private email address... and if they were to get no reply to mails to that, then they can be sure that all is not well...

yes I remember that he passed away HFL... and I did tell people here at the time. It was really sad, because he was so full of life and (Big boys toys)...he really enjoyed his life...

Well if I passed away... how would I tell the people who are my closest friends on the forum ..so they could tell everyone else ?:D
Assuming you won't have the ability to do so as a spirit...how about designating someone you know outside of the forum to let SF members know. Make sure that person is not old and decrepit, so not likely to die first. Hmmm...lets see...your daughter seems like the perfect choice. Just let her have your login information now (unless you intend to or have posted things you wish her not to see :D)

no I have nothing to hide here.. everything I ever write about here she would know about anyway... and tbh with you, she's the least likely to even read any of my posts on here..

If I think of it , I'll tell her my log-in. :D
