I never associated a food item with arousal. (I'm a guy so all I ever needed was oxygen) but we see some foods as aphrodisiacs. Did anyone here ever relate to foods to get you going back in the day?

I'll agree with that. I've really liked fried oysters ever since I tried them with hushpuppies in the southern states. They did anything but taste good to me.
I've never heard of hushpuppies before, aside for the actual shoes.

What are "hushpuppies", Judy?

I'm not quite sure but they were good with the oysters. They are a fried side dish, honestly don't know for sure what they are made from. The recipe says corn meal but the ones I had in the South were so light, not gritty at all.
Reminds me of a little something my mom used to make when money was really tight in our home, which was always. It was a potato, flour, milk, along with a few other ingredient recipe, where once she had the patties formed, she'd bread them and then fry them in a pan.

We called them Salisbury steaks, even though there was no meat in them.

They were tasty, not much in the way of any nutritional value I suspect, and yet they soothed our hunger.

Put some onions in there and I'm sure they were pretty good. Hushpuppies are deep fried nuggets. The ones I had weren't exactly round, better than the ones we get at one of our national fast food chain fish joints. Those are pretty awful.

The addition of onions sounds delish!

The hushpuppies sound so good. Have always loved fried foods, even though I fry next to nothing anymore, but searing certain things in butter just tastes so yummy. :)

They are made with cornbread and deep fried. Different spices are used as they are regional.

Speaking of food:
A guy was vacationing in Mexico. He didn't speak any Spanish. He stopped in a restaurant for lunch. He noticed a Matador eating 2 big meatballs, so he told the waiter, "I'll have what that Matador is having."
The waiter brought him 2 small, shriveled-up meatballs.
He said, "Hey, what is this? I wanted what that Matador was eating."
The waiter said, "Señor, the bull does not always lose."
