Not sure if any of you remember this, but she called 911 for help. The officer showed up and he insisted she remove a pot of hot water from the stove. She made the statement that "she rebuked him in the name of Jesus" and he took that as a threat. She had mental issues and pled for him not to hurt her.

Yes, he should absolutely be convicted but the bigger issue is that policeman should never be expected to handle issues where mental health is involved. Mental health professionals should be deployed. We have taken such a wrong turn in this country.

It is worthy of mention that his partner testified that he never felt Ms. Massey was a threat, which probably weighed heavily in establishing the guilty verdict. Her family and their supporters are not happy with the second degree murder conviction, saying it should have been first degree. If he gets off with the lesser sentencing (4 years), I'd be unhappy with that myself. The max sentence mentioned was 20 years, which I believe he should get.
