I'm Tired and About as Funny as Carrot Top These days

I've lost my edge since I quit smoking. I have nothing to say anymore. My concentration levels are terrible. I have no energy and I'm as funny as a brick. In some way I figure my cigarettes were my gun powder. Now, without them...I'm just a toy pop-gun.

I don't intend to start smoking again. Just wondering when this fog will lift.

:) I know it, Beezer. It's been over twenty years for me, and I still look around for my cigarettes. I roast lettuce and herbs and spices (all organic) and burn them wrapped in paper tubes --like incense but held close., yum, better than cigarettes, but tobacco would work too. Good luck, kiddo, I'm glad you quit.

Carrot Top is rich, rich, rich. You could try his kind of funny. He’s also very buff.

BTW, I don’t care for his show. There sure are lots who do.

Good going staying smoke free.

I understand Beezer. I've noticed. Don't smoke again though if you can help it. Your family, and you, need you well and with them. I know what you mean. Please hang in not smoking. You are being very brave.

One Day at a Time, First Things First, I'm out of platitudes. Put your humor on the back burner for now and concentrate on your health.

The same thing happened to me when I quit smoking. I felt like my whole personality changed. Lost my sense of humor, didn't want to socialize anymore, had nothing much to say. I think my humorous side came back, but I still have no interest in socializing much. I've become sort of an introvert. I also gave up social drinking, like having a beer at a picnic or something like that. Haven't touched alcohol since I quit smoking. (I'm now the designated driver all the time!)

Maybe I just reverted to what my personality actually is, prior to taking up cigarettes.

Edited to add: I have a shirt that I wear when I go to the fitness center. It says "when you feel like quitting, remember why you started". I can turn that around for you and say, "when you feel like starting, remember why you quit".

Nicotine is a stimulant, so, not smoking left you "unstimulated". Your wit and intelligence are still the same. Your body hasn't gotten used to not being stimulated at frequent and regular intervals. And how many years have you smoked? I don't know how much time that takes. It took a while after I smoked for 30 years.
I did enjoy your fun posts, so get off your butt and post.:)

Are you still drinking coffee, Beezer? Caffeine kind of replaced nicotine as my stimulate of choice. It may have produced more angry outbursts than hilarious quips, but it at least gives me some pep through the fog.

I remember that, for a while, my attention span was too short for books, but fine for periodicals. I was in England when I quit and I would walk down to the local farm store every morning and buy, The Times, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail and all their chocolate Dime bars.

Don't worry, you'll get your focus back soon, you're probably at the worst point right now. Try listening to the radio while your left brain keeps busy with coloring or a jigsaw puzzle.
