Yep, but have to carry them up through the manhole cover and keep moving them around in a confined space, not a very good idea IMHO?

In the house I grew up in, the attic was floored down the middle but not under the eaves. We were playing up there one day and I stepped off the boards and put a leg through the living room ceiling. Dad was not amused.

When I was a student at LSU we had a department party and most of us students drank too much. A couple of the particularly drunk guys decided to crawl into the attic of the building, just exploring. One stepped off the rafters and went crashing through the ceiling down into the ROTC offices next door to us. He managed to get up and run out the door. Not sure @kburra 's devices would have helped much, not a fix for stupid...
