An infamous prisoner from the 1960s/70s or the San Quentin 6 was killed in a riot. His escape attempt was made infamous when 6 people were killed which gave him a life sentence. Just saw a documentary on San Quentin and this came up.

They say he was a target. How a man in prison for 50 years is a threat to other prisoners puzzles me but they did what the state should've done decades ago.

Well after reading what he was convicted for...I would imagine that he was one of the prison ''lords'', a director no doubt of inner prison crime.. so the riot would have been a deliberate distraction to get him killed either in revenge or as a take over bid by a rival faction ..

It was a race-related retaliation. In prison it's all about race.
