Inner voice

Interestingly everybody has a little voice inside that tells what we like, dislike and what we do. Do you ever ignore your inner voice by throwing caution to the wind? Remember how it feels to be free without a care in the world even if it was only for a moment?

I'm learning to meditate, it's going slow but productively. It helps for me pass the time listening to meditation sounds. I'm getting more flexible over time, much more than when I started.

Topic: Give your Inner voice a holiday by exercising your freedom from within.

I have a whole crowd of inner voices playing tug o' war with my mind. o_O

My business associates are both Yoga instructors, each providing a class during the week where we get a chance to dim the cacophony in our heads for a bit. I'm still learning to be a Taichi/Qigong instructor, which is an equally rich opportunity for calming and centering our being.

I think the difference is that with "quietude", the chaos of voices is stilled and you here the voice that matters.

There is a very good book for those interested in this sort of thing called "The Untethered Soul":

It is a relatively short read and saves me a lot of typing here.

There is a difference between mindfulness and brain chatter ie voices to still. I used to teach my students to visualize their excessive thoughts. To drop them into an imaginary sack, and to walk peacefully over a beautiful imaginary bridge where they would then drop the sack into the water and let it sink. It works well.

To me there is a difference between "inner voice" and intuition. Cannot explain it but its different for me and I know it. I use basically the same thing chic does to get rid of "brain chatter".

I am an introvert so if I listened to my inner voice it would constantly tell me not to try or do anything out of my comfort zone. I can actually hear it say no the second I have an opportunity to do or go anywhere.
I fight this all the time. I've learned to wait a few minutes and then say yes to most things.
For the most part it works well and I've had some great times because I didn't listen to that negative little voice inside my head.

Referencing one's inner voice may include that nagging command of weakness, failure, you can't do this because you're too old or what will people think? It's the voice that stops you from trying.

I’ve read that. It’s good.
My inner voice is very self critical and unfortunately I pay attention. It’s really painful at times. I don’t have the right to self torture myself but do. Becoming mentally aware of my inner critique helps as well as knowing they are only negative thoughts and thoughts themselves can’t hurt me. This is a difficult thing to learn at times since I take my mind too seriously.
Those inner voices can be horrible.

Inner thoughts are sometimes also called monkey mind ...I have been trying to distinguish between the monkeymind and that stillness from where it is said wisdom comes..
