Intense shoulder pain..

I have a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder that I have been careful to use for sometime now. Last night I tried to help my son remove a stubborn lug nut from his car's flat tire by stepping down on the lug wrench to snap it loose. It slipped off the nut and I quickly threw out my arms to catch my balance and not fall. Bad move.. The pain in my shoulder from quickly moving my right arm up was so intense that I just had to walk around holding it for a few minutes and saying every cuss word I knew. So I put a bag of frozen peas on it for 30 minutes or so and took some Ibuprofen. The intense pain is gone, but it's hard to lift my arm up. It's still hard to do certain things, so I bought an arm sling for now. Going to the doctor the day after Thanksgiving. Has anyone else had something like this with their shoulder?

I separated my shoulder while playing baseball and diving for a line drive while in college. I had surgery the next day. The surgeon inserted two surgical pins to reattach the ligaments back onto the collar bone for 6 weeks. The pins made it impossible for me to stretch my arm out full length. I had to keep the sling on for 4 weeks. Luckily, I did not get a frozen elbow.

Yup, I tore a rotator cuff about 3 years ago. The doctor sent me to a "sports injury" specialist, who gave me a Cortisone shot, and a exercise routine to follow. The shot helped a bunch, and over a period of 2 or 3 months of doing the exercises, it healed up nicely. Now, I just have to be a bit careful with lifting, etc., so as to not injure it again.

A good friend had an êxperience thêse few past months with a frozen shoulder...
She literally got the run around from 4 doctors in the same medical center and this lady couldnt sleep, couldnt function, she's 67,obviously,a junkie, couldnt get a pain killer stronger than ibuprofen....
Finally, got an ortho appointment and had a procedure that needed anesthesia so he could "unfreeze" it with manipulation and inject cortisone deep into the joint,he told her she couldnt stand the pain if she was awake!
So far,so good.
Thêse golden years are not for the faint hearted

I had an "impingement" that led to a frozen shoulder several years ago. I let it go too long.

Shoulder surgery took care of it, thank goodness. They sawed the tip end of my collarbone off and that took care of the impingement. A few weeks of PT and I'm 99% good. (I think it's the 1% "bad" that has Santa worried.)
