International Bagpipe Day - March 10

I always wanted to buy a bagpipe. Every time when visitors arrive whom I don't like, I could play them something.

My biology teacher used his terrarium with his big spiders instead.

Last year I was on a float in the local Memorial Day parade. There was a bagpipe band just in front of us and it was raining. A woman asked me what the pipers do when their instruments get wet. I said that they might put them in the clothes dryer, but I would want to be there to hear them going around and around.

I like them, but I can take them only in very small doses, sort of like Gregorian chant. After a couple of minutes, I've had enough.

I guess I'm the odd man out. I watch pipe band videos fairly regularly such as the ones posted here. Have been to some of the Scottish games held in various states that also feature pipe bands.

I love bagpipes

IMO, they are a respectful instrument played at certain funerals and other events

Having worked at the Sheriff's Dept. most of my adult life I associate bag pipes with cop funerals.

Holly, I haven't a drop of Scottish blood in me that I know of. It is all Irish in the ancestry except for one little section of Swedish. But, I love the bagpipes. They really touch my heart for some reason.

Lois , growing up in Sctland where the bagpipes are the national instrument, they're played everywhere , at any excuse, at any time... really if you heard them all the time you'd grow to hate them...lol

My wife visited Scotland a few decades ago. She brought back a cartoon from there. "The origin of the bagpipes". A man had thrown a sheep over his shoulder, holding its two hind legs with his hands. The sheep bleated. That's how the bagpipes came into being.
