Iran Carries Out First Execution Over Anti-Government Protests

Yep just read it...appalling...... can't really discuss it or it will break the no politics rule
I don't understand the 'no politics rule'. You can't discuss politics but it's okay to post articles that are about politics as long we all pretend they aren't about politics.

I realize the rule is there because adults can no longer have a civil conversation about politics - so I'll just say I agree - it's appalling.

I can't click on the link. Too appauling from the title alone. When I can get down in the dumps, I can remember I don't live in a country like that.
It makes me feel bad that anybody lives in a country like this. Haven't we evolved at all as a species? 😄

Believe me..we used to be able to have political discussions.. and some of it was absolutely awful blood letting verbal attacks on people.. so many people were suspended and banned time and time again for personal attacks just because they disagreed with the next person's views..... It's much better now without the no politics rule.. albeit a little frustrating sometimes.. but there are other forums where politics can be discussed...

I don't find it frustrating- it's just sad when a discussion turns to insults.

I mean why is there still extremist fundamentalist religion? I thought the "age of reason" took place in the eighteenth century?
European, and although Americans involved that didn't help our slaves. Dilettantes.

Time for pitchforks in the village square.
Pitchforks don't match up well against automatic weapons. However there are signs that the protests have had some beneficial effects, such as the disbanding of the "morality police."

I know, I know. It's just and age old symbol implying ready for revolution.

Gotcha. I worry about the Iranians. Lots of good people, such an awful regime.
But...they, (many of them) wanted the regime.......until they found out they didn't.

(Yes, lots of good people....I recall ~16 years ago talking to a few at a small protest rally held outside a Toronto subway station.)

I know. I've thought of this myself. Seems we never stop war and treating others this way. Power scares me also.
