Irish People Try Krispy Kreme Donuts For the First Time...

I lived near Winston-Salem when K.K. was only one little shop. A "fresh hot" was a welcome treat at a time when treats were rare but I only stopped when the "hot" sign was lit. There was something special about them, nothing like the boxed from the supermarket or even boxed and taken home. Best eaten in the parking lot just barely cool enough to handle.

I love plain glazed Kripsy kremes more than any other flavour... but the price of each are horrendous, so I don't buy them.

I can literally buy 12 exactly the same tasting generic glazed donuts from the supermarket for the same price of 2 Kripsy Kremes..
 
The only two times I had KKs, they were still hot coming off a conveyor belt. That’s the way all donuts should be presented.

When people ask me why, I can only come up with, "they taste fake".

IDK, it's hard to describe.
 
Tried Krispy Kreme doughnuts, once .. never again! It was like the doughnut was soaked in wet glaze. Not for me. I'm not to have them, anyway.
 
When I first moved to New York circa 1975, there were little Chock Full o' Nuts shops with really yummy little whole wheat glazed donuts. Those were the best. Krispy Kremes are like Cinnabons, just over the top with sugar and fat.
 
In our small town, there is a lady who opened a doughnut shop several years ago. She makes doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, and all sorts of other tasty snacks. She sells glazed doughnuts or chocolate covered doughnuts at a price of 3 for $1. Nearly every time I go to town, I stop by and get some....she makes the best I've ever tasted.

Thought I was the only one here who likes them. I only get them when I need to bring something for a get together. If only for me, I don't like them enough to go out of my way just to get them.
