Is a Big War Starting Between the US and Iran?

I heard that the US and Israel are launching all out attacks against Iran. I wonder if the US will re-create the Selective Service and start drafting our young folks AGAIN? This action could spread all over the world with even Russia and China getting involved on Iran's side.

We haven't had a real big war since 1945. This could end up in WW 3 with nukes and satellite borne lasers being used.

It is too soon to make those assumptions. Russia and China have interests in Tehran but have not indicated any willingness to risk a direct confrontation with the United States to protect Iran.
But it's more fun to make up catastrophic gloom & doom scenarios instead of trying to find the real facts, Mack. Or at least so it seems sometimes, doesn't it?

This long term defensive move has been a long time coming. The reasoning is that you kill a snake by cutting off the head. Iran is sure to have a backup plan that will be triggered by this action. Thus this is not a strike and sit on your laurels event. There we be or is another head to cut off. Unless it is pursued to an actual conclusion that serpent will rise again.

Our Homeland Security and FBI are at high alert for possible embedded sympathizers in our midst.

War is conducted a lot differently in the 21st Century, than back in the 1940s, with an All Volunteer Military there is not nearly as much need for human body cannon fodder.

I was drafted and it was a possibility being faced by everyone my age. I wasn't enslaved nor were those I served with. When I looked around me there was an amazing cross section of our country in the ranks. There were college educated professionals and street gang hooligans. The truth is when the chips were down we all had the same objective - to stay alive one more day. Because of that sometimes unspoken common objective persons from a vast array of backgrounds came together.

I was an FO and there was on brother who hailed from the roughest area of Chicago. He knew how to survive. In our small squad he knew keeping me alive was the key to keeping himself alive. We were as different as night and day, but we took care of each other and we stayed alive.

They can draft because they can. They blab about drafting to serve in country for all sorts of things to force young people to do.

The draft is enslavement. @Nathan
@Pepper, you're preaching to the choir, I was in the military during the draft, although I enlisted and joined when I was 17(young and dumb). The one major positive aspect of the draft, is that you get a broad cross section of society in the military, which can bring with it the first person eye witness of the people.
Lessons were learned from the Vietnam era, politicians know that a "high causality" loss of sons & daughters for a questionable goal will be extremely unpopular.

Just mentioned you because you brought up the subject and as grandma hope (there’s that word again) my grandson is going to be free from this.

Especially when few of their children actually fight in wars.
