Is Anyone Watching The Old Man Starring Jeff Bridges?

It's a critically acclaimed FX show and it can also be seen on Hulu. Truthfully, if I didn't like Jeff Bridges so much I wouldn't have checked it out. Nor would I have watched past the first 15 minutes because it starts out kind of slow. Even critics who rated it highly mentioned that. Well....by the end of the first episode, I was intrigued. Every episode had me saying "I didn't see that coming!" When I was talking with my Honorary Son, he said the same thing without me even mentioning that I felt that way. Now I can't wait for S2.

Yes, I've just started watching it and feel exactly as you do. If it weren't for Jeff Bridges I'm not sure I would have been interested. It does have a slow start which made me doubt that I'd stay with it but I'm glad I did because it has gotten very interesting!

It's been renewed.

My complaint, and this is not limited to The Old Man, is that subtitles are too small. they zip by so fast, and they are usually not easily seen against the background. My tv is not supersized and not far across the room, but I am about to give up on subtitled shows.

Love the dogs- Carol and Dave.

OOOH! Love Jeff Bridges! (Used to have romanic dreams about him!)
Don't know if I can get this on my TV or not, but I'll try!
Thanks for telling us about it!

Found the end, which of course I won't share, ridiculous. Tell me when you're finished, ok?
I finished it over a week ago. I don't share your opinion about the end. Will you watch S2?
@Gaer You've got good taste. I remember not thinking that the first time I saw him in King Kong. But when I saw him "all cleaned up" it was a different story. And he was adorable in Starman, which I've seen three times.

I didn't realize the show was a series. Given that, the end of Season I makes more sense.
Yes, glad I cleared that up for you. The show was renewed as soon as the first episode aired.

@dseag2 No you're not. As I mentioned earlier in the thread about fall season premieres, I haven't watched GOT. Maybe I will someday.

@NorthernLight Yes, Jeff is literally an old man. In a way it's kind of hard for me to wrap my brain around it. But I feel that way about other celebrities that have aged (along with me) over the decades. o_O

@Gaer You're welcome.

@Colleen I'll have to see if I can find The Mirror Has Two Faces on any of my streaming services.

Try googling

how to change subtitle size & color on

you can put in Netflix or Hulu

Using color like a bright yellow might make it even easier to read

If @Knight's suggestion doesn't work for you, try this. I just do a lot of pausing so I can read those subtitles, because yes..they do change fast. I have a visual issue called split vision, so sometimes I don't see the entire word(s), although I can usually figure them out I'll pause to make sure I've read them correctly.

Watched the first episode and thought it was quite good. Then I realized I had read the book by Thomas Perry and remembered the story and ending so have not watched any more.
