Is cooking for two a chore for you?

I used to love to cook and bake. Always a pitch in at church, or company, or grandkids. Now seldom does anyone come over and their is just hubby and me-my dd and her huby once every two weeks bless their hearts. But I can't bring myself to cook. If hubby did not cook supper we would starve to death. I don't eat much at a time and a big meal would just be wasted. So we have a sandwich (tonight fried round steak) or a vegetable (last night fried potatoes). Not fried usually that often. I was a pretty good cook, if I do say so myself. Got lots of comments on my cooking. Bkf is a bowl of cereal, and lunch tater tots, bologna whatever. I think this began when I had my H/A after eating a big meal out with friends in a restaurant. So tell me what you do and how you keep meals interesting?

It's not a problem for me... I always make way too much.. but I just freeze the left overs and they are revisited in a few weeks or so. I love to cook.. I'm a hit or miss kind of cook.. but we aren't starving to look at us so I guess I do ok.

Cooking for two is a choir for me. I never properly learned to cook.

Cooking for two is not a chore for us, sometimes I cook, sometimes my husband, depending on what we're having. We have some usual meals, oven grilled salmon fillet with Yukon gold sliced/seasoned potatoes sautéed in olive oil. Hamburgers with onion, tomato on whole wheat buns. Morningstar Farms "Prime Grillers" veggie burgers, similar to hamburger.

Egg omelet with red peppers and onions, in a whole wheat tortilla wrap. Homemade tacos, or bean burritos smothered in cheese and green chili sauce. Nachos and guacamole. Whole wheat spaghetti with either 'homemade' red sauce, or with shrimp sautéed in seasonings and olive oil. BBQ rib-eye steaks with veggies. Sometimes just crackers, sardines, avocado hearts, cheese, salami, pickles, etc. I can go on and on, just simple small meals for the two of us, not too hard to whip up.

My husband does about 98% of the cooking. Usually some type of veggie curry, chili, stew. I sometimes make soup or a pasta. I like baking but the problem is that I eat what I bake and I don't need the calories. I use a bread machine and only occasionally bake French bread only using the machine for the dough cycle.

My husband always thinks he's cooking for an army so I freeze some, and we eat the rest as leftovers.

Don't normally cook for two. But if I do , I usually just grill a couple of steaks and mix up a salad. My normal day is just me so i do very little cooking. Mainly make salads or make a sandwich. I eat out a lot.

I had to cook for eight of us at one time when all the kids were at home. These days it is generally the two of us, and I try not to take more than a few minutes to prepare our evening meal. We have a lot of salads as they are quick and easy. I don't think I ever enjoyed cooking much, just another chore which was allotted to me. Talking of meals I had better get going it is 5.50pm and we want to watch a programme at 6pm,so I had better get the evening meal done p.d.q.
