Is no-one to be trusted any more ?

In the states, if you are being paid by a company for your services, you are considered as an agent for that company. Receiving and cashing a check is the same as being an agent for that company.

I'd have to leave it for you legal eagles to work out. Once the meal is delivered, they're no longer contracted. But hey, what do I know?

After checking with the claims department of a well known insurance company, the answer I received was, "This is a very complex question." Without going into a lot of insurance and legal talk, it depends on the company and the state where the accident occurred.

Some states do require the company to carry a minimum amount or coverage while other states require the driver to carry a minimum amount of coverage. It came down to "who is the company" and "what state did the accident occur in."

It all becomes very complicated after that.
