I'd love to watch the lava flow from Mauna Loa from a boat a safe distance off shore.
The lava is flowing very slowly. I was thinking last night during a news report on TV that I'd like to walk up to the flow and stick a stick into it.I'd love to watch the lava flow from Mauna Loa from a boat a safe distance off shore.
I got to see it about 20 years ago, and tried to get that close but there was no way. As I recall about 30 feet was as close as I could get and still stand the heat. And it was a pretty small flow, a bigger one would be harder. So, take a long stick! The lava is flowing very slowly. Lots of them, all you need is a good clear sky and little light pollution. The Geminids are on now, will peak about December 13 or 14. If you can get out to Sapelo Island for the night and it's clear you should be able to see them next week! I agree not much more exciting than a good meteor shower. And more are coming...I don't know that one is coming soon but I'd love to see a meteor shower again
That would really be something! Seems the odds are against us though...I'm still here when Betelgeuse goes supernova
Is that a proposal? I'm flattered.I’d like to see Aunt Mavis get married.
Well....just say its name 3 times, see what happens.I'm hoping I'm still here when Betelgeuse goes supernova. There has only been a couple of supernova events in recorded history. For a time it was thought it would happen in 2019 but nobody knows now and it's looking like a long shot.
When Betelgeuse goes supernova, what will it look like from Earth?
That was a funny movie...Well....just say its name 3 times, see what happens.
