Is there a current 'happening' that you would like to witness?

Great answers! Not exactly current but I want to see the next total solar eclipse, saw the last one and would really like to see another.

I got to see it about 20 years ago, and tried to get that close but there was no way. As I recall about 30 feet was as close as I could get and still stand the heat. And it was a pretty small flow, a bigger one would be harder. So, take a long stick!

Lots of them, all you need is a good clear sky and little light pollution. The Geminids are on now, will peak about December 13 or 14. If you can get out to Sapelo Island for the night and it's clear you should be able to see them next week! I agree not much more exciting than a good meteor shower. And more are coming...
