Is there a lot of commercial businesses in the community where you live?

We have a post office, 2 convenience stores/gas stations, and 3 or 4 pizza/sub shops (they come and go so the number can vary), a handmade furniture store and an auto garage. There's a library, but I don't consider that a commercial business.

Not really. There's a small bus company and a one man car repair business, but neither are doing much work at present. Most people in this area are either farmers or tradespeople - self employed builders, plumbers etc..

Publix is .8 miles, Walgreens a little further. Lowe's, Walmart grocery and Winn-Dixie are a couple of miles.

We used to have more than we do now. Many have closed over the last 10 or so years. These were dependable places to eat, have a drink, and shop for longer than I've been alive. Last month our bank branch closed. There has always been a bank in the community. Have to go to the next town 10 miles away for everything now. Very disheartening.

I miss the Bank drive throughs. Now you have to go in. Don't like it as I used to wear my old tee shirts and shorts. At least my SS check is direct deposited. See that my payment of 1200.00 will be a check so I will have my grand daughter deposit it for me.

Not much where I live now, but I've been in areas with even less.

I know some folks here who used to drive 100 miles one way for jobs when the citified part of the state was undergoing its boom years.

When I lived outside of DC, the first thing you asked someone when you first met them was "Where do you work?" I've gotten to know a number of folks here in my rural area and it sometime hits me that I have no idea what they do/did for a living. They've had jobs, not careers. It's kinda refreshing to get to know who they are rather than what they are.

I live in a rather large suburb and there are tons of pubs, pizza places, more than several gas stations, novelty shops, restaurants, clothes stores, pharmacies. There are many doctors offices, a few dentists, social services agencies, and whatnot shops.

Here is a view from the park:
